what is enough?
Hello, hello!
I stumbled upon the sweetest little book at Bart’s Books recently— The Gift of Story by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. I purchased it without question, as I consider her to be one of my greatest teachers (whether she knows it or not 😆).
The tagline reads: “A Wise Story About What Is Enough”, and as I read the poignant stories to my girls last week, that phrase has been reverberating through my mind. And the question:
What is enough?
All I want to do these days is eliminate what is not essential.
I want to rid myself of busyness and rushing. I want to reduce noise. I want to reduce my habit of striving.
I want to light a candle in the morning and ask my guides and ancestors to wrap their arms around me, and I want to sit still until I feel the gentle way the air in the room shifts. That oh-so-subtle tingle of a presence that has finally become familiar and trustworthy.
I want to feel the way the Earth and the stars and the unseen is HERE, always supporting me, always whispering, “It’s enough. Just this. Just this is enough.”
As we move towards the end of the year, my prayer for you is that you also know that it’s enough.
You’re enough.
That everything you might think you need that is “outside” of you, is actually available to you inside of you, right now. Just you, being you, is enough.
Wishing you a beautiful, peaceful, and slow December.
With all my love,
Meghan
